The Smart Class Project is GBTC Trust’s flagship initiative that brings technology-enabled learning to government and community schools across Uttar Pradesh. We install Smart TVs, laptops, inverters, and solar panels in under-resourced schools — but more importantly, we train teachers to use these tools effectively so that learning becomes visual, engaging, and inclusive.
When a child in a rural classroom experiences an animated lesson for the first time, something changes — curiosity awakens, attention grows, and learning becomes joyful.
In many government schools, lessons are still taught from faded textbooks with little visual support. Children memorize but don't always understand, and teachers struggle to bring abstract concepts to life. The Smart Class Project bridges this gap—moving students from rote learning to real learning.
“Since the Smart Class was installed in my school, attendance has improved from 75% to over 85%, and students are more eager to learn.”
— Pankaj Dwivedi, Head Teacher, PS Theunga, Ayodhya

GBTC Trust wanted to further contribute to the growth and education of poor, deserving and needy students of the Ayodhya district. With the support of Basic Shiksha mentors, this has become possible and we are executing our plan to support the children
Team GBTC decided to support 60 children for the Navodaya Vidyalaya entrance exams. Due to COVID, virtual classes were necessary, so they raised funds to procure 62 smartphones. Interested students underwent a local assessment exam, and the 62 best performers were enrolled in the initiative.
After enrollment, students received smartphones on October 1, 2021, in Ayodhya, with esteemed guests present. We enrolled 43 students from Class 4 and 19 from Class 5. Mentor volunteers provide regular online classes from Monday to Saturday in Mathematics, Reasoning, and Hindi. Two batches were formed for Class 4 and Class 5 students to meet their specific needs.
